Why we love Solid European Beech
European Beech (Fagus sylvatica) is one of Europe’s classic furniture hardwoods. It grows naturally across much of Europe and has a long history in furniture, cabinetry, flooring and chairmaking.
What makes beech special is its combination of strength and visual calm. The grain is generally fine, straight and even, so the wood feels refined rather than busy. Its pale cream-to-warm natural tone works especially well with the clean lines, soft finishes and Scandinavian influence found throughout Vash Furniture.
Beech is not a “budget wood” pretending to be oak. It is a dense, genuinely hard hardwood in its own right. Published reference values commonly place European Beech at about 710 kg/m³ average dried density and around 1,450 lbf Janka hardness—one reason it has been trusted for hard-working furniture for generations.

Solid Oak: character you can see
European Oak is loved for a reason. Its pronounced pores, natural colour variation and visible ray patterns create a surface with depth and personality. No two pieces look exactly the same.
Where beech is calm and uniform, oak is more visually expressive. We position it as the premium choice for customers who want the grain itself to become part of the design.
